This past week I have started to explore another fairy Tale by Madame d’Aulnoy perfect for this season. It is called the Ram, “Le mouton” en français and was written in 1697-1698.

It is a beautiful tale of a king turned into a sheep by a fairy. This story uses also the theme of the beauty and the beast, it’s a theme Madame d’Aulnoy uses a lot in many of her stories. But the Beauty and the Beast as we know it today was written much later in 1740 by Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve.

La semaine dernière, ont été commencés une série de personnages inspirés d’un autre conte de Madame d’Aulnoy, que je n’avais jamais visité jusqu’ici intitulé “Le Mouton”. Parfait pour cette saison .

Il reprend la thématique de la Belle et la Bête quoique ce conte précis fut écrit quelques quarante ans plus tard par Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve. Mais bien sûr Madame d’Aulnoy comme à son habitude nous réjouit de son écriture et de son imagination éblouissante. En témoigne cette description de paysages gastronomiques où vit le Roi mouton: ,
